Football Recap: St. Joseph Starts Season with Win at Home

St. Joseph took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down the Egg Harbor Township Eagles 27-13. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 35-13 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

A big part of St. Joseph's win came down to the chemistry between Anthony Salamone and his top target Cole Brubaker. Salamone threw for 115 yards and one touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes while Brubaker gained 123 total yards and a touchdown.

St. Joseph's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Darnell Young Jr. was especially locked on to Egg Harbor Township's QB and sacked him twice.

This is the second loss in a row for Egg Harbor Township and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

St. Joseph and Egg Harbor Township will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats are set to challenge their familiar foe Absegami at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Egg Harbor Township will take on rival Bridgeton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
