Softball Game Preview: Phoebus Phantoms vs. Hampton Crabbers

For the second straight game, Phoebus will face off against Hampton. The Phantoms will head out on the road to square off against the Crabbers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Phoebus has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Phoebus' win against Hampton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Phantoms sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-12 victory over the Crabbers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Phantoms have posted against the Crabbers since April 30, 2019.

Suniya White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and seven unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kadence Bone, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Ariana Robinson was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hampton is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8. As for Phoebus, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7.
