Baseball Game Preview: Reed-Custer Comets vs. Herscher Tigers

For the second straight game, Reed-Custer will face off against Herscher. The Comets will square off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Reed-Custer's last matchup with Herscher could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Comets came up short against the Tigers, falling 11-1. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Herscher's part, Alec Nicholos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits.

On the hitting side, Payten Young was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 12 matches. Another player making a difference was Gaige Brown, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Herscher, bringing their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reed-Custer, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
