Soccer Game Preview: Lane Tech vs. Neuqua Valley

The Lane Tech Champions will face off against the Neuqua Valley Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Neuqua Valley will be up against a hot Lane Tech team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. The Champions' defense stepped up to hand Whitney Young a 5-0 shutout on Wednesday. Lane Tech's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

They hit Whitney Young with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Grace Carman (2), Lily Bishop, Rebecca LoVerde, and Jackson Caffey.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley, and Neuqua Valley kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Warriors on Monday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Neuqua Valley's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Waubonsie Valley are ranked 119th).

Neuqua Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those eight contests. As for Lane Tech, their win bumped their record up to 11-1-2.
