Football Recap: Dublin Lions vs. Bowie Jackrabbits
Dublin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Bowie Jackrabbits at home and fell 69-28. The Lions were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Defeat or not, Dublin got some senior leadership from Dj Ferguson and Kaden Gaiten. Ferguson picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Gaiten threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
Dublin wouldn't let Bowie keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Christian Mendez, Caige Balvantin, and Fernando Esparza picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Bowie's side was Alonso Moreno, who made 16 total tackles.
Dublin's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bowie, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dublin will head out to face off against Lindsay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lindsay knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 point or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Dublin likes a good challenge. As for Bowie, they are taking a road trip to challenge Peaster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bowie will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
