Baseball Recap: Whitney Young Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Whitney Young proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Amundsen Vikings 8-6. That's more bragging rights for the Dolphins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isaac Stoelinga was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Whitney Young is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-10 otherwise. Stoelinga was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Theo Kimmeth was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Yolich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Whitney Young's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Amundsen, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Whitney Young beat the Vikings by a score of 13-3 on Friday.
