Softball Recap: Hug Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Hug unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 15-6 to the Virginia City Muckers on Saturday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 21 in a row.

Aubrie Sacauskas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Hug and Virginia City will both be playing Portola the next time they take the field. Virginia City will head out to face Portola at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Hug will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
