Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Firebirds vs. Elder Panthers

Fairmont hasn't had much luck against Elder recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Fairmont Firebirds just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Elder Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Elder took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Fairmont, who comes in off a win.

Fairmont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Springboro 66-50 on Friday.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Elder's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 46-30 to St. Xavier.

Fairmont's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Elder, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-3.

Fairmont might still be hurting after the 61-38 defeat they got from Elder in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Fairmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
