Jackson waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Waverly Tigers by a score of 8-5. The Ironman/Ironladies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.
Serenity Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Jackson got a massive performance out of Maddie Wright, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Lillie Eberts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Jackson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Jackson's record now sits at 17-5. As for Waverly, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Looking ahead, Jackson will face off against Chillicothe at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Ironman/Ironladies 3.4, the Cavaliers 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Waverly, they will host Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
