Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy Losee Falls Short Against Ranked Valley

Somerset Academy Losee faced Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Somerset Academy Losee fell 3-1 to Valley. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Somerset Academy Losee started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-12.

Leonardo Ortiz paced Somerset Academy Losee's offense, picking up nine kills. Ortiz got some help from Matias Espinoza and his 29 assists. Finally, Kieran Daniel and Arving Araizaga kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked three attacks.

Somerset Academy Losee now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Somerset Academy Losee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Moapa Valley on the 24th. As for Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Buchanan on the 17th.
