League recap: DeWitt rises in state rank

4A Region 8 recap September 17, 2013

DeWitt scaled the state rankings by moving to 124 from 157 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 8. The Dragons climbed the ranks as a result of besting Walnut Ridge 31-6.

Lakeside lost to Malvern 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

6-foot-1 quarterback Dawson Moser of DeWitt is the league leader in passing yards this season with 363. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Darveon Brown. The Warren star has 5 catches for 59 yards.

Steven Jones' team made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,320 from 11,465. The advance stemmed from a 31-6 victory over the Bobcats last week.
