Baseball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Clovis Wildcats

Lovington is 1-9 against Clovis since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Lovington has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lovington came up short against Kermit last Monday, falling 12-5.

Mika Pando made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jayden Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Clovis hadn't beaten Roswell on the road since March 10, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. Clovis narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Roswell 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Clovis' victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Lovington, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Lovington might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Clovis in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Lovington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
