Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Lincoln Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Lincoln sitting on ten straight victories and Santa Cruz on five.

Lincoln is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Casa Roble 71-68. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Rams are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Cruz). Everything went their way against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Thursday as Santa Cruz made off with an 84-61 victory. The Cardinals not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since January 28th.

Santa Cruz pushed their record up to 20-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 23-9.
