Baseball Recap: Richwood Has No Trouble Against Greenbrier West

Richwood's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Greenbrier West Cavaliers. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lumberjacks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Parker Giles made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Richwood got a big performance out of Jaden Jantuah, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Jantuah posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Grady Hall, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Richwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenbrier West only posted an OBP of .417.

Richwood's record now sits at 2-3. As for Greenbrier West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Richwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenbrier West, they will head out on the road to face off against Midland Trail at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier West is facing Midland Trail at the right time seeing as Midland Trail is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
