Softball Recap: Southern Lee Comes Up Short

Southern Lee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 8-4 to the Riverside Christian Academy Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 last Tuesday.

Brylee Percival spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.

At the plate, Southern Lee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Simmons, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Simmons' first of the season.

Southern Lee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Riverside Christian Academy, the win keeps they at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Southern Lee will venture away from home to face off against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Riverside Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scotland Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
