Basketball Recap: Christian's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Christian blew Otay Ranch out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Otay Ranch got their revenge. The Christian Patriots fell just short of the Otay Ranch Mustangs by a score of 52-50. The match marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jazmyn Bugg, who posted seven points in addition to 18 rebounds and six assists. With that strong performance, Bugg is now averaging an impressive 9.8 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Speers, who put up 19 points.

Maleah Porch had an outrageously good game for Otay Ranch as she dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Those 19 points gave Porch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Serenity Salmond, who posted seven points and four steals.

With the defeat, Christian broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-1. As for Otay Ranch, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Christian will face off against St. Margaret's at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Margaret's will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Otay Ranch, they will take on Valhalla at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Otay Ranch is facing Valhalla at the right time seeing as Valhalla is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
