Football Game Preview: Heritage Eagles vs. Golden Demons + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Heritage will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Heritage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Columbine, who was ranked 17th at the time (Heritage was ranked 23rd). The Eagles and the Rebels were almost perfectly matched up on Thursday, but the Eagles suffered a 14-13 loss. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Golden put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Lakewood, posting a 42-7 victory. The matchup marked the Demons' most dominant win of the season so far.

Heritage better keep an eye on Thatcher Matthews. He was instrumental in Golden's win, rushing for 172 yards and one score on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 122 yards and four TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave Matthews a new career-high. Ethan Bonafede was in the mix as well, providing Golden with two touchdowns.

Golden was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Golden's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything went Heritage's way against Golden in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Heritage made off with a 28-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
