Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Corydon Central

Corydon Central entered their tilt with Eastern on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Musketeers. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Musketeers, too.

Ava Gerdon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Gerdon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addyson Leonard was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addyson Branham, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Corydon Central pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Eastern, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Corydon Central will face off against New Albany at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern, they will square off against North Harrison at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Musketeers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
