Softball Recap: East Hardy Starts Season with Win Against Luray

East Hardy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Luray Bulldogs by a score of 9-6 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Madison Strosnider made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Strosnider wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chelsea Mills, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Luray is on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Hardy will take on Martinsburg at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Luray, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against East Rockingham at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
