While Priest River's win against Newport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Grizzlies on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Priest River who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Newport still got an impressive performance from Kayla Earl, who had eight kills, eight digs, and seven aces. Another player making a difference was Kenna Arthur, who had 12 digs and ten assists.

Priest River's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Newport, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Priest River and Kellogg will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. As for Newport, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Chewelah on the 30th.
