Basketball Recap: Lexington Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lexington hadn't done well against Salisbury recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lexington Yellowjackets blew past the Salisbury Hornets 56-35. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 21 points or more this season.

Lexington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Ervin out in front who went 9-for-21 to rack up 23 points and eight rebounds. Makayla Bobo was another key player, going 5-for-9 on her way to 16 points along with six boards and three steals.

Despite the loss, Salisbury still got an impressive performance from Keaira Spruill, who posted eight points and seven rebounds. Spruill is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 60% in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tristian Myers, who put up five points.

The victory (which was Lexington's third in a row) raised their record to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points over those games. As for Salisbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Lexington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-42 win against North Rowan on the 11th. As for Salisbury, they have also already played their next game, a 61-28 victory against North Davidson on the 10th.
