Basketball Game Preview: Austintown-Fitch Falcons vs. Olmsted Falls Bulldogs

The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will square off against the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Austintown-Fitch will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Austintown-Fitch is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They took down Euclid 48-30. The Falcons pushed the score to 45-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austintown-Fitch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rachel Spalding, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Spalding is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Liz Spalding, who posted five points in addition to six boards and six steals.

Austintown-Fitch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Olmsted Falls meant business on Wednesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Lawyers squad that has allowed just 28.48 points per contest. Olmsted Falls simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat John Marshall 65-22. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Olmsted Falls is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. Austintown-Fitch now has a winning record of 12-11.
