Recap: Albemarle School Colts vs. Northeast Academy Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to the Albemarle School Colts, who are still winless after their 18th match. They took a 73-57 bruising from Northeast Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Albemarle School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Wentz, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wentz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan James, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
Northeast Academy found their leader in underclassman Jake Parks, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Parks hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Dashawn Daye was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Albemarle School bumped their record down to 0-18 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road. As for Northeast Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.
Albemarle School will head out on the road to take on Pungo Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Pungo Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Albemarle School likes a good challenge. As for Northeast Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Oakwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
