Baseball Game Preview: Green County Dragons vs. Washington County Commanders

Green County and Washington County are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Commanders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Green County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

On Saturday, Green County didn't have quite enough to beat Male and fell 6-4.

Green County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Houk, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Drew Squires, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Boyle County hit Washington County with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Commanders took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rebels.

Washington County's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Green County, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.

Green County's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Dragons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game.
