Softball Recap: Columbus Grove Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Columbus Grove's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Kalida Wildcats with a sharp 10-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Dakota Dunn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since April 1st. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Zoey Patchet was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Erianne Heffner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Columbus Grove's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Kalida, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus Grove will challenge Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Kalida, they will take on Ottawa-Glandorf at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.09 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
