Volleyball Game Preview: Olentangy Orange Pioneers vs. Newark Wildcats

The Olentangy Orange Pioneers will face off against the Newark Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Olentangy Orange will be strutting in after a victory while Newark will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Olentangy Orange turned things around against Ross County Christian Academy on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since April 12th.

Olentangy Orange was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-20, 17-25, 22-25, 25-14, 17-15.

Meanwhile, Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Westerville South.

While Newark had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 25-21.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Olentangy Orange, their win bumped their record up to 3-17.

Olentangy Orange beat Newark 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
