Volleyball Preview: Streaking Morgan Faces Slumping Manti

After both having extra time off, the Morgan Trojans and Manti Templars will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morgan has three straight wins, Manti has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Morgan beat Layton Christian Academy 3-1.

Morgan had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final set scores wound up at 16-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.

Jerstyn Payne produced another solid performance, getting 25 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Ruby Cameron, who had 17 kills, five digs, and four aces.

Meanwhile, Manti came up short against Union on Thursday, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19, 25-9.

Despite the loss, Manti saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Margret Barlow had 15 assists and seven digs.
