Soccer Game Preview: Powell vs. Oak Ridge

The Powell Panthers will face off against the Oak Ridge Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Powell will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Powell got the win against Halls by a conclusive 7-1. Considering Powell have won eight matchups by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Halls with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Abigail Rieche (3), Avery Smith (2), Piper Scarbrough, and Anna Sanchez.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Oak Ridge finally came back down to earth two weeks ago. They fell just short of Powell by a score of 2-1. Oak Ridge's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Powell's win bumped their record up to 10-3-1. As for Oak Ridge, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-2.

Powell skirted past Oak Ridge 2-1 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
