Volleyball Recap: Nikiski Triumphs

With a playoff game on the line, Nikiski rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Sitka Wolves out 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Nikiski was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-13, 17-25, 25-13, 15-7.

Ashlynne Playle paced Nikiski's offense, picking up 17 kills. Playle got some help from Avery Ellis and her 23 assists. Playle was also a major player on defense: she and Mandee Roofe shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with three each.

The win made it two in a row for Nikiski and bumps their season record up to 38-19-7. As for Sitka, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 47-14-5.

Nikiski has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Seward on the 15th. Sitka does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
