Murrah won the last time they faced Greenville and things went their way on Saturday too. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Mustangs made off with a 58-57 win over the Hornets. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Xavier Thompson had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cleo Nichols, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points.

Greenville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demarion Gibson, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 22 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Gibson now owns an excellent 45.9% field goal percentage. Marcus Peoples was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Murrah and bumps their season record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points over those games. As for Greenville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Murrah wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-53 victory against Canton on the 2nd. As for Greenville, they will challenge Cleveland Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
