Basketball Game Preview: Marist War Eagles vs. Northview Titans

The Marist War Eagles will take on the Northview Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northview will be up against a hot Marist squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Marist blew past North Springs 77-19 on Thursday. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Spartans are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northview came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over the Lions.

Marist better keep an eye on Tamariana Bivins. She was instrumental in Northview's win, going 7 for 11 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Bivins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmonee Jackson, who went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points.

Marist pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Northview, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Everything went Marist's way against Northview in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Marist made off with a 60-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marist since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
