Not much got past Brady Stepp, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Danville off the board. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Stepp.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nate Millington, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Terre Haute South Vigo waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Lakers as they made off with a 13-2 win.
Mckade Griese looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Terre Haute South Vigo let Hayden McCord and Noah Fields run wild. McCord went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Fields went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two doubles gave McCord a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Leek, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Terre Haute South Vigo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Terre Haute North Vigo pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
