Preview: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Timpanogos Timberwolves

The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Maple Mountain faced Farmington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Maple Mountain fell just short of Farmington by a score of 66-63. Maple Mountain's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The losing side was boosted by Brogan Miles, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Carlisle, who scored 9 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Timpanogos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They slipped by Spanish Fork 75-74. Given Timpanogos' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Spanish Fork is ranked 56th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maple Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Timpanogos, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Maple Mountain against Timpanogos when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 59-22 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Timpanogos' Mason Faux, who scored 14 points along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Maple Mountain to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
