Basketball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the First Flight Nighthawks 81-45. The Aces have struggled against the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Holmes lost, don't look at Tucker Baldwin. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre'Shaun Rankins, who earned eight points.

Mason Dobie was his usual excellent self, putting up 39 points for First Flight. Dobie is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 15 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Judah Carlyle, who put up 11 points.

Holmes now has a losing record at 9-10. As for First Flight, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Holmes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-62 win against Hertford County on the 8th. As for First Flight, they will challenge Pasquotank County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasquotank County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.7 points per game this season.
