Softball Recap: Newberry Victorious

Newberry's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Keenan Raiders get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won six in a row.

Sydney West made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. West was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaydee Rivers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Karli Turner was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Newberry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Newberry's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Keenan, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

As of now, neither Newberry nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
