Soccer Game Preview: Mitchell vs. Sunlake

The Mitchell Mustangs will challenge the Sunlake Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Sunlake likes a good challenge.

Mitchell's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Hudson 8-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Hudson from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Jack Shafer led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Sunlake hasn't lost a match since December 4, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. They and Northeast finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw. The Seahawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mitchell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 53 goals over those ten games. Sunlake's draw gives them a new season record of 8-1-3.
