Volleyball Game Preview: South Mecklenburg Sabres vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks

After both having extra time off, the South Mecklenburg Sabres and the West Mecklenburg Hawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Mecklenburg has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 18.

Last Wednesday, South Mecklenburg came up short against Marvin Ridge and fell 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21.

South Mecklenburg might have lost, but man, Phoenix Modie was a machine: he had 11 kills, four digs, two blocks, and two aces. Modie is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Balen Spry, who had eight digs and three assists.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Lake Norman on Saturday, taking the game 2-0.

West Mecklenburg never let Lake Norman on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22.

South Mecklenburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for West Mecklenburg, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
