Basketball Game Preview: Rancho San Juan Trailblazers vs. Watsonville Wildcatz

The Rancho San Juan Trailblazers are taking a road trip to take on the Watsonville Wildcatz at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Rancho San Juan took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Stevenson by a score of 64-57.

Meanwhile, Watsonville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Spartans 81-48. Given the Wildcatz's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while the Spartans are ranked 1264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Watsonville's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. As for Rancho San Juan, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Rancho San Juan came up short against Watsonville in their previous matchup back in January, falling 79-66. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Watsonville's Leon Madec, who went 11 of 24 to rack up 27 points along with five boards and four steals.
