Basketball Game Preview: Alief Hastings Bears vs. George Ranch Longhorns

The Alief Hastings Bears will head out to take on the George Ranch Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Alief Hastings has struggled recently with 12 losses in a row, while George Ranch will arrive with three straight wins.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 63-27, which was the final score in Alief Hastings' tilt against Strake Jesuit on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1065th, while the Fighting Crusaders are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, George Ranch got the win against Alief Taylor on Saturday by a conclusive 72-50. The Longhorns pushed the score to 57-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

George Ranch's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Alief Hastings, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Alief Hastings ended up a good deal behind George Ranch when the teams last played back in January, losing 58-39. Can Alief Hastings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
