Basketball Recap: Granby Comes Up Short

Granby lost against Maury back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Granby Comets took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maury Commodores. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Commodores are ranked 18th).

Granby has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Maury, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Granby wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 41-39 win against Manor on the 7th. As for Maury, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-47 loss against Lake Taylor on the 7th.
