Baseball Game Preview: Chazy Eagles vs. Lake Placid Bombers

Chazy is 1-6 against Lake Placid since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will host the Bombers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Chazy will bounce into Friday's game after beating Crown Point, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-2 win on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly 13 runs.

Aiden Howell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacoby Weeden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Poirier, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lake Placid had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Boquet Valley on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The Bombers have beaten the Griffins the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Griffins has come to flipping the script.

Chazy suffered a grim 18-5 defeat to Lake Placid in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
