Softball Recap: Olympus Gets the Win

Olympus's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Jordan Beetdiggers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaedin Mugleston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Sydney Birkeland was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mya Palcher also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The win got Olympus back to even at 5-5. As for Jordan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Olympus will square off against Viewmont at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Jordan, they will challenge Judge Memorial Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Beetdiggers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
