Baseball Recap: Cardinal Newman Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Cardinal Newman entered their tilt with Spanish River on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Sharks. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gabriel Acevedo was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Finn Duran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double.

Acevedo wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Cardinal Newman lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spanish River didn't launched any home runs.

Cardinal Newman's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2-1. As for Spanish River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Newman will take on Jupiter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Spanish River, they will square off against Saint Andrew's at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Scots' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Sharks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
