Football Game Preview: Colchester Lakers vs. Mt. Mansfield Cougars

The Colchester Lakers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mt. Mansfield Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Colchester managed to slip by Essex the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lakers came up short against the Hornets last Friday, falling 41-20. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Mt. Mansfield faced Fair Haven in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. The Cougars were dealt a 48-7 loss at the hands of the Slaters. The Cougars have struggled against the Slaters recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Mt. Mansfield now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Colchester, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything came up roses for Colchester against Mt. Mansfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
