After a string of 15 wins, Tyler HEAT's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 63-56 to the Commerce Tigers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Tyler HEAT came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Commerce is ranked 262nd).

Several Tyler HEAT players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Waker Hartman, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Coen Starr, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

Tyler HEAT's defeat dropped their record down to 15-2. As for Commerce, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Tyler HEAT didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-41 win against Timpson on the 14th. As for Commerce, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-43 loss against Martins Mill on the 14th.
