Baseball Game Preview: Taft Raiders vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Sotomayor. The Raiders will host the WILDCATS at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Taft hasn't scored more than two runs for six games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Wednesday, Taft didn't have quite enough to beat Sotomayor and fell 2-1.

For Sotomayor's part, Wes Guardiola made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Guardiola a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Guardiola wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Cano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sotomayor is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Taft, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
