Basketball Game Preview: Holly Grove Christian Eagles vs. Nandua Warriors

The Holly Grove Christian Eagles will take on the Nandua Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Nandua took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Holly Grove Christian, who comes in off a win.

Holly Grove Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-20 win over Faith Baptist School. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Holly Grove Christian found their leader in freshman Abby Pruitt, who went 11 for 16 on her way to 29 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pruitt has scored all season. Kamryn Salvas was another key player, putting up eight points.

Holly Grove Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Nandua took a blow against Snow Hill on Saturday, falling 53-11. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 299th in Virginia, while the Eagles are ranked 133rd in Maryland).

Holly Grove Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Nandua, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Holly Grove Christian barely slipped by Nandua when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 38-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holly Grove Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
