Baseball Game Preview: Sickles Gryphons vs. Wharton Wildcats

For the second straight game, Sickles will face off against Wharton. The Gryphons will venture away from home to face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sickles 4.1, Wharton 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sickles heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Wharton by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Gryphons couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Wharton's part, Daniel Duno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Duno has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chase Anello was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Justis Meadows was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wharton's win bumped their record up to 26-7. As for Sickles, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-10.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Sickles hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Wharton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
