Basketball Recap: Hawthorne Valley Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Hawthorne Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They claimed a resounding 84-45 victory over Varsity Opponent. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wildcats just coasted through the last quarter.

Hawthorne Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Oliver Towe, who posted 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Gamiello, who scored 23 points.

Hawthorne Valley pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Hawthorne Valley will challenge Pine Plains at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Pine Plains has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Varsity Opponent, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 89-67 loss against Specially Fit Academy on the 24th.
