Franklin Community came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Center Grove Trojans. The Grizzly Cubs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Franklin Community was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-10, 25-23.

Rose Mahin paced Franklin Community's offense, picking up 19 kills. Mahin got some help from Karlin Burton and her 23 assists.

Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Skylyr Merriman led the charge by getting 11 digs and three assists. That's the most assists Merriman has posted over her last seven matchups. Another player making a difference was Avery Bastein, who had six digs and two aces.

Franklin Community's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Center Grove, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4.

Looking ahead, Franklin Community will square off against Whiteland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Center Grove, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Providence on the 6th.
